What you can do is add a second map control and fill this map with the image of the main map using one of the snapshot methods:

I didn't try snapshot but I tried Mapsate but with a limited success, perhaps because I missed things.

I finally used two Axmap in two different forms pointing to the same shapefile and synchronized commands thru vb .net.

For MapWindow Desktop we use the snapshot option. When you link two maps to the same dataset you might get weird errors. And a snapshot is also much faster, because it creates 1 image.

Hi Paul,

I understand what you mean. I tried to think another way but I want my two maps to be able to offer the same functions (zooms, pans, select,, insert points). As they aren't the same size, it at least requires to recalculate pixels to use pixeltoproj for the "snapshoted" map and I'm afraid to discover other problems. Let me know if you don't think so.

You can have a look at how it is done in MapWindow Desktop.
The code is available at http://svn.mapwindow.org/svnroot/MapWindow4Dev/MapWindow/
